Details of previous academy below
(for reference only, until new dates advised):
This is Year 5 for the MCI Academy and we are delighted to be offering a 5-week compact academy for those looking for intense training right up to the start of the 2011 cricket season.
This year, will cover technical and tactical work, fitness and mental training as well as fielding and catching practice.
You are invited to attend either the 5 week Pace Bowling Academy (medium / fast bowlers) or the 5 week Batting Academy. You will enjoy this detailed and progressive academy, encompassing all elements of the cricket world.
The Bowling Academy will be lead by Andy McGarry, MCI/ABSAT Coach, ECB Level 3 Coach and ECB Staff Tutor. Andy has supported Ian Pont, Founder of MCI, for many years and coaches using Ian’s ABSAT (Advanced Biomechanics Speed & Accuracy Training) coaching method.
Apart from technical coaching to maximise your action with improved speed and accuracy, you will learn the tactical side of how to develop swing, reverse swing, seam, yorkers, bouncers and slower balls including the world’s best slower ball, known as the SLOB, devised and created by Ian Pont. You will also get the chance to bowl again the MCI Speed Gun.
The Batting Academy will be lead by Luke Humphries, Elite Coach, ECB Level 3 Coach (currently studying Level 4), ECB Tutor and NLP Practitioner.
Batters will learn the importance of balance, weight transfer and contact areas, as well as shot selection, batting against spin and pace and all other aspects of technical and tactical batting drills and techniques, including T20 batting.
All attendees will also enjoy:
- Game play – match situations and training under pressure
- Mental approach (NLP) – goal setting, commitment, emotional control, stress management, etc
- Fitness – impact of poor fitness on concentration, training and playing
The Academy will suit anyone who is looking to enhance their winter training and is suitable for attendees age 11+ (adults & juniors), but not beginners.
Whatever level you are, you can always be better.
If you want to maximise your skills, The MCI Academy is for you. It's your chance to discover how to play cricket the right way. It's a true academy of excellence and one where you can take your game to new heights.
