MCI Academy 2011

Batting or Pace Bowling over 10 Sundays

This is Year 5 for the MCI Academy and we are delighted to be offering a more intense, focused and comprehensive academy than ever before.

This year, all attendees will get the opportunity for video analysis and assessments, technical and tactical work, fitness and mental training as well as fielding and catching practice.

MCI Academy 2009   Mavericks Cricket Academy 2008

You are invited to attend either the Pace Bowling Academy (medium / fast bowlers) or the Batting academy.  You will enjoy 10 weeks of detailed and progressive training, encompassing all elements of the cricket world.

The Bowling Academy will be lead by Ian Pont, International Coach and Author of The Fast Bowler’s Bible and Coaching Youth Cricket.  The fast bowlers will be schooled in the secrets of ABSAT (Advanced Biomechanics Speed & Accuracy Training) coaching methods and pushed to their limits on technique and skills.  Apart from technical coaching to maximise your action with improved speed and accuracy, you will learn the tactical side of how to develop swing, reverse swing, seam, yorkers, bouncers and slower balls including the world’s best slower ball, known as the SLOB, devised and created by Ian Pont.  You will also get the chance to bowl again the MCI Speed Gun

The Batting Academy will be lead by Luke Humphrey, Elite Coach, ECB Tutor and NLP Practitioner.  Batters will learn the importance of balance, weight transfer and contact areas, as well as shot selection, batting against spin and pace and all other aspects of technical and tactical batting drills and techniques, including T20 batting

All attendees will also enjoy:

  • Game play – match situations and training under pressure
  • Mental approach (NLP) – goal setting, commitment, emotional control, stress management, etc
  • Fitness – impact of poor fitness on concentration, training and playing
  • Personal and group analysis and assessments

The Academy will suit anyone new to MCI or those who have already attended 1:1 bowling or batting coaching, a Pace Bowling Workshop or the 2-day Autumn Boot Camp. Those who have previously attended an MCI Academy, will benefit from the progressive mental and physical aspects of this academy, as well as video analysis/assessments and polishing up drills and technique.   Winter training is about exploring, developing and enhancing your skills in preparation for next season

We welcome junior (age 11+ ) and adults cricketers (not cricket beginners), with a real desire to improve.  Whatever level you are, you can always be better
