''Parents often contact me because they don't feel they are getting the best coaching for their children locally or through some counties. It's a common complaint. That's why I treat the youngsters as professionals and give them the very best information available. It really works. Those players I work with have accelerated learning and seem to progress far faster than lads around them. That's the art of coaching.'' - Ian Pont

Ian is highly sought after as an inspirational coach and mentor. His methods are to structure learning in a such way that everyone can understand - whether it's fast bowling, spin bowling, batting or fielding. His knowledge and experience makes him an expert in teaching clean hitting and aggressive bowling; two things needed for Twenty 20 success. But more than that, he helps players to understand the thought processes behind playing cricket.

Andy FlowerHis batting sessions with me were interesting and informative. He encourages self-discovery and true learning. I always came away from such sessions a calmer, more confident batsman and person

Private Coaching Feedback

I would just like to thank both you and Ian for a visit which all of us regarded as an unqualified success. As a teacher myself I particularly liked Ian's manner with the boys, ensuring that the ones who were obviously less able weren't made to feel as if they were second class in any way. And all of us got something out of the session.
Tim Wilkinson, Banchory CC Aberdeenshire

Working with Ian has given me the ability to assess my own game.  My speed and accuracy have really improved and I can now understand how to fix things if they go wrong. Ian’s enthusiasm makes the coaching fun too. I’ve really enjoyed the sessions with him and learned so much.
Bill Thorne (14)

Ian sorted out the mechanics of Bill's bowling in a very simple and effective way and the one-to-one sessions took him to a whole new level. He changed Bills action to the point where is became easy to bowl smoothly and consistently.  Bill is now bowling much faster with greater accuracy and control; a much better bowling rhythm and a far greater repertoire. Bill has really enjoyed the sessions. Ian makes him work hard but adds a lot of fun in to it.  Ian is not a one-size-fits-all coach and has a great way of coaching and communicating, and really brings out the best in Bill.
Dave & Jackie Thorne - Herts

Not only does Ian have an impressive understanding of the biomechanics which make a bowler quick and accurate, he has the almost magical ability to simplify the changes that a player needs for improvement, and communicate those changes in a way that the player fully understands.
In just three sessions Ian improved my son's action, nailed it on, and then made it feel right. My son and I can't thank Ian enough for his help, the sessions were absolutely inspirational.

Sam (14) and Tony White - Warwickshire

Hi Ian,
Firstly to thank you so much for doing the bowling camp for our players. It was an enormous privilege to have you do the coaching with the enthusiasm and patience that you showed especially to the younger children.
The feedback forms are now all in and needless to say, the overwhelming response was one of excellence. All the players thoroughly enjoyed it and I am already seeing improvements in technique. Three of the attendees are going to the County U12 trials this week and we hope to show some success there!
Best Regards.

Kailash Dal, ICCA Nottingham

Ben powellBen has just finished his season and I am now able to work with him on the parts Ian helped him with. The video of the two-hour (1:1 coaching) session we have is invaluable. We have made some good progress and can really get to work now in the close season. The last session (with Ian) was awesome.

Atul SharmaI live in India and have travelled to the UK for personal training with Ian twice. The pointers he provided in a matter of days is worthy of years worth of training. He is systematically breaking the paradigm that "fast bowlers are born not made". His understanding of biomechanics simplifies the mysteries of fast bowling to the extent that it seems like a science not an art. He makes it seem like a set of steps that anyone with the right amount of dedication can learn. He has an intuitive sense for bowling, so his sessions are not "one size fits all" but customized to your unique needs and style. He is a complete coach who made me appreciate the importance of mind and body. His talent, the dedication he brings to the trainings and his personality are a powerful combination which means he offers immense value, intensive training and a lot of enjoyment all rolled into one.

Nick GibbensIan's two hour one to one session with my son was truly inspirational. He gave him confidence and a real purpose. His manner with Nick brought the best out in him. I haven't seen him bowl that quickly for some time. It has happened on the pitch too but more work is needed to finalise the changes.
Nick (17) & Andy Gibbens - Somerset

Palash JoshiIan was absolutely amazing today. He sort of put Palash through his washing machine at 7 pm and produced a clean invigorated and sprucer version at 9 pm (bowling quicker and straighter).
That sums up our feelings. Palash is overjoyed. Ian also has this knack of making him feel so much at ease. Its almost like he is at play when with Ian. I can’t thank Ian enough. Palash had three back-to-back sessions with him in early April and went up two gears (speed and accuracy allied with a better action). We are really grateful for his help.

Palash (15) & Arvind Joshi - Middlesex

Alex HarbourneAlex loves bowling fast and with Ian's help since Nov 06 has greatly improved his consistency, fluency and repertoire. Ian makes sessions fun as well as productive and with his help, Alex's batting has also come on leaps and bounds.

The (group) session was extremely worthwhile, with the lads (and coaches!) leaving with a number of helpful pointers. Many had not experienced the biomechanical breakdown of their actions before and enjoyed discovering new things. Ian's style was comfortable, entertaining and informative and it was great to have him down for the clinic. Many thanks'.
Matt Banes, Master of Indoor Cricket @ Eastbourne College

Thanks for the last 2 days, it was excellent.  We left each day with a real buzz.  Will was really quite excited.  He learnt a huge amount and it has given him a sense of purpose.  Again, thanks very much.  What a great way to learn.
Will (13) & John Barrett - Herefordshire

Just wanted to let you and Ian know how impressed I was with the coaching that Ian gave Sean on Jan 2. Sean has never had any real guidance with the biomechanics of his bowling action. The techniques that Ian showed him were a revelation. Sean's concentration did not waver for the whole 4 hours (bowling & batting) - he feels that he can now bowl more effectively and is full of enthusiasm.
Sean (13) & Paul Hicks - Aberdeenshire

Ian's analysis of William's bowling action and the way in which it can be improved were second to none and were all that I had hoped for. In two hours Ian identified the errors in his action and started the corrective drills to allow him to bowl with improved accuracy and speed.
As I mentioned during the coaching, William is not new to one to one sessions but yesterday was simply the most informative and educational that he has received. Whilst it will take time to correct his action he now understands what he needs to concentrate on. I know that he can't wait for the next session and is already practicing the drills that Ian showed him yesterday.
William (12) & Martin Armstrong-Fox - Essex

Please pass on thanks to Ian for the session he did with Peter - practical, thought provoking and inspirational.
